Skilled Visas (EOI and points)

Points-tested visas (subclasses 189, 190 and 491) require first lodging an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect. You need to meet or exceed the minimum threshold of 65 points. Points are awarded for age, skilled work experience, qualifications and English proficiency.

Process steps

  1. Confirm your occupation appears on an eligible skilled occupation list.
  2. Obtain a valid skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority.
  3. Demonstrate competent English (higher points for proficient or superior English).
  4. Lodge your EOI in SkillSelect; you can update it before an invitation.
  5. If invited, you have 60 days to lodge your application via ImmiAccount.
  6. Provide evidence supporting the claims in your EOI and meet health and character requirements.
